Dave Blackburn's Study Named One of the Top 10 Stories by Science

Astylosternus perreti is one of 11 species of African frogs whose sharp toe bones can break through the skin and serve as claws when the frog is threatened.

Graduate student Dave Blackburn's study of the "Wolverine frog" from Africa—frogs with erectile claws—was one of the Top 10 Stories of 2008 reported by the journal Science. The study was co-authored with Professors, James Hanken and Farish A. Jenkins. Gazette Story.
