Flowering plants and the evolution of terrestrial ecology and environments
Abstract: The flowers themselves are often the primary focus when considering angiosperm evolution, but the vegetative biology of flowering plants also represents a departure from other plants. I will discuss angiosperm transpiration and assimilation capacities in the context of the fossil record and explore the potential impact of flowering plants on climate, plant ecology, and the carbon cycle.
